If your requirement is for limiting who has access to one or two doors on your site, central control software may not be a top priority.
The alternative is to have stand-alone control equipment controlling one or two doors at a time.

When you want someone to have access through a doorway you add a card number, or PIN number, to your door controller and then give the individual that card or PIN number. If they loose the card or PIN number, you invalidate their old credentials and give them a new one.
There are numerous stand-alone access control solutions on the market and Mastiff offers a selection to suit requirements and budgets.
Favoured suppliers products are TDSi's S1000, Sensor Access DoorPass and Paxtons Compact.
For something between stand alone and central control there are now other options. TDSi's MicroGarde controller and Suprema's Bio and XPass range of door controllers can either be configured as a single door controller linked to a laptop when changes need to be made or as a full blown central control systems configured via your LAN/WAN
